Number of House Sales

The trend for house prices is closely related to the change in the number of total sales transactions. The number of house sales during 2008 compared to 2007, declined by 55% from 939 to just 420. During 2008 many buyers decided to give the market a miss and moved into rented accommodation.

Demand from buyers during the first five months of 2009 has started to increase with a marked increase in the number of new buyer enquiries. However, Q1 2009 sales as recorded by the land registry were 69. This is 42.5% down from the figure achieved in Q1 2008.
